9 months in Peru!

Hola mi Querida Familia!!

Para honrar mis 9 meses aquí en Perú, voy a escribir completamente en Español...
Just kidding (bromas) hehe

This week was JAM PACKED with things! It was a good week! Our area is progressing and we have a lot of potential for May!

Monday: For P-day, we went to Chili´s!

Tuesday:We had a work visit with the Sister Training Leaders! It went really well... We had a few appoitments fall and Hermana Evans asked me if there were any references we´de received that we hadn´t contacted yet. I remembered this one lady that we could NEVER get a hold of. We walked up to her house and there was a woman with her head out the window! I called up to her and asked her if she was Martha (the lady we were looking for) and she said yes! I asked her if we could share a short message, and she said YES! It was literally a miracle! We are working with her and she wants to get married and baptized and she has 2 kids who want to be baptized too! Miracles here in Libertad!

Wedesday: We finished the work visit and my comp and I went to lunch. However, the family was out on an errand. They told us to keep waiting and we waited for like, 2 hours. Finally, the daughter who is deaf cooked us some stuff she found in the house, and we helped. It ended up being really fun! Hahaha. That night, we celebrated the Birthday of Elder Cuvi! It was sweet!

Thursday: I CELEBRATED 9 MONTHS HERE IN PERÚ!!!  I literally cannot believe it! I am half-way! I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have been able to have to serve the people of Perú! And I still have 9 more months! hahaha.
I sent some letters to you guys, so let me know when you get them!
That evening for lunch, Royer visited me from Cusco! That was awesome! We just got to talk and reminisce about all the fun times in Canto Rey! That feels like it was just yesterday, but it was like 4 months ago! crazy how the time flies.

Friday: Friday night, we decided to poke our heads in this aquarium that´s in our area! It was pretty cool! It´s really a shop to buy fish, so we looked around and even got to hold a Pirahana!!! ok... it was dead and dried and on a little stand, but it WAS real! hahaha. I also got to hold turtles!!! You know how I love them!

Saturday: normal, good day with lots of work!

Sunady: We had a lot of lessons. One in particular was super awesome. We are rescuing and he is really back and forth on whether or not he wants to go on a mission. We talked to him a lot and I shared a quote I heard from President Hinkley that was "You will come to realize that what appears today to be a sacrifice will instead come to be the best investment you will ever make." I really believe that is true. It was like that for me in the beginning... I thought I was making such a sacrifice, and in some ways, it´s true. Time. But really... I am the one benefitting the most from this. There are things that I have learned and I am still learning that I KNOW I would never learn if I was just at home. I am so grateful for my mission and even the hard times. I know that I am growing to be the person my Heavenly Father wants me to be. The mission is awesome like that.

Welp family, I love you lots and I hope your week is fantastic! Keep up on the studies, you´re almost to the end of the year! Hahaha. Love you guys!

P.S. Lots of pics this week!!!

Love love love,
Hermana Kira Andrus

Votationes and Baptisms!

Dear Familia!
Buenos Dias!!! This week was a toughy, but it ended sweet! Hope your week went well! I love you guys and miss you guys like crazy!

Monday: For P-day we just hung around the stake center, but 2 hermanas cooked us breakfast for lunch! It was good and we watched Monsters Inc.

Tuesday:Things are progressing in our area and we are learning to teach together and (as always) patience, That evening, we went up the hill to visit this sweet little old lady thatr we are reactivating. Her husband isn´t a member, so we tried to talk to him, but he was really catholic and just didn´t want to listen to ANYTHING we had to say. However, as we finished the lesson, the little old lady (Nicolasa) told us she had cooked something special for us. She served us.... Mazamora de Trigo... Or something like that. Mazamorra is like Geletin soup... bleh..... I literally could not eat it... It was really bad... eek.-.. But I tried to eat as much as I could and then kindly asked if she could package it so I could take it home to eat.. Hahaha. Eek.

Wedesday: In the morning, we celebrated the Birthday of Elder Ushiñahua, our District Leader! I had bought a bunch of balloons and confetti and so I filled the baloons with confetti and some gifts (candy and pens... don´t ask me how I got pens inside the balloons, but IT IS POSSIBLE!) and went and delivered them! He stuck the balloons on the celiing and then popped them all! IT was cool with all the confetti! hahaha.
That evening was REALLY productive and we found some new people!

Thursday:WE had a multi-zona with comas and received the capacitacion (training) from president! IT was really good and all about taching the plan of salvation. That night we visited a lot of people.

Friday and Saturday: Just lots of work and things to do. Lots of good visits too.

Sunday: VOTING DAY! Here in Perú it´s mandatory to vote, so everyone was out in the street. Also, it´s prohibited to have church. So in the morning, we went and visited a bunch of families and then in the afternoon, visits and then in the evening BAPTISM OF ALEX AND CINTHYA!!! IT was awesome! So sweet! They were so happy and seemed to be doing well! WE love them!

Welp, Family. I actually forgot to make the list of my week, but I tried. Hehehe. This week was a week with a LOT of learning experiences and lots of prayers. But I am so happy to be here. To learn a bunch with my companion and to serve the people in Perú!

I love you guys so much! Do good things this week and don´t forget your prayers!!!!!

I love love LOVE you!

Changes and Conference

MY DEAR FAMILIA!!!!

Holy Canoli, this week was full full FULL! Hahahhaa.

Monday:; Hermana Nuñez and I had our last day together :(( We went and visited a bunch of people and said goodbye and then spent the night packing all her stuff. IT was bitter sweet. I will really miss her....! That night, one of the families in our ward, the Uriarte Familia made us empanadas and MAracuya juice and brought it over! Yum

Tuesday; I had to say goodbye to Hermana Nuñez... wahhhh... and... CHANGES! Ahhhh.... My new companion is named Hermana Hernandez and she is from Honduras. She has 10 months in the mission, but we are co-companions. She has 10 brothers and sisters... ahh! She is cool! it is VERY different from Hermana Nuñez, but there is lots of prayers to be said, lessons to learn, and ways to grow. I am excited to see where this next change will go.

Wedesday: was a littlñe difficult. Lots of things that change with a new companion and we are starting a little bit from scratch. We´re looking for potential for May, and the Lord really is blessing us and helping us out.

Thursday: Normal day!

Friday:In the morning, we helped the Elders MOVE.-.. They moved from this one tiny house to a HUGE house... but... IT´s in a HILL!!!! Ah... that was literally the most difficult service! Hahaha. we had to carry all their stuff up stairs and hills into their house... bleh!! So tiring, but good to help them out! hahha

Saturday: CONFERENCE!!! Seriously, this years conference was FANTASTIC!! I LOVED IT ALL! IT was so good and so cool to hear what the LORD wants them to tell us. Ahhh. I loved it! After conference in the evening, we went to the hill to contact people.... and we were successfull! WE will see how things turn out! Hehe.

Sunday: MORE CONFERENCE and oh yeah..... A SECOND TEMPLE IN LIMA PERÚ!!!! AHHH!! Seriously, reveryone was So suprised and SO happy! IT was awesome! we cried and smiled and thanked the Lord! Ah! People are saying it´s possible it will be in our mission, which would be AWESOME! When I come back to visit I will have to check it out, since I won´t be here when it´s finshed. Hehe. But seriously, this conference was awesome! What a great time to be here on the earth. I loved how President Holland expressed his love for us. And the love of the Leaders and of the Lord! Definitely one to remember!
That evening, we went the the Familia Uriarte´s house and ate dinner and I got to drink my favorite... MARACUYA!!! ahhhh... Yum.

It was a great week with lots of new experiences. I am grateful for this time that I have here to be able to serve the sweet people of Perú and prepare them to enter into the new temple! Ahh! I love you guys and hope your week is awesome! I love you!
