10 months in Peru!

Hola Familia!!!

This week has been crazy busy, with lots of new things and some new adventures! Hehe.

I am now BACK in San Juan de Lurigancho! HAhaha. I am in a different Zona called MAGNOLIAS and in the area BUENOS AIRES! Hahaha. My zone/area literally touches my first zone CANTO GRANDE! hahaha. As we were coming here, I got to see my old area from the car! It was so sweet and brought back so many good memories. It feels like it was just yesterday that I was there, and yet... I COMPLETED 10 MONTHS in PERÛ THIS WEEK! hahaha. Seriously, I cannot believe it! Time is FLYING!!

Ok, ok. Now to the good stuff!

Monday: I said goodbye to all the beautiful families in Libertad, it was so bittersweet, but they all made me promise to come back!! (😉) It was easier than the first time I left an area, but it is always sad to say goodbye. I really loved my time in Libertad, and I learned a TON!
That night, I packed until late, and Hermana Fatima brought me delicious empanadas de POLLO (Argentinian style--- YUM!)

Tuesday, I finished packing and then we left Libertad and went to the offices! It was cool seeing all the girls and I got to see hermana Nuñez and all! She is training this change, which is AWESOME! hahaha. And then I met my NEW COMPANION! Hahaha.
My new companion is named Hermana Garibay! She is from Chimbote, PerĂč which is just a little more north than Trujillo. She is the 2nd of 4 girls in her family and her older sister served a mission too! haha. She has 3 months in the field and she is, like all new missionaries... a little trunky!hahasha . But she has lots of desires to work hard and learn a lots! I have already learned a LOT from her! She is very sweet and a little shy, but she loves to laugh! haha.
My new area is called BUENOS AIRES! It was previously an Elders area (for like, 13 years!), but about 3 months ago, they put hermanas in there! The area is really calm and FLAT! hahasha. Only like, 2 hills! hehe. The members are awesome and they are still adjusting to having Hermanas here. haha., Hermana Garibay told me that when they first got there, all the hermanas would give them MOUNTAINS of food because they were so used to the elders! haha. But they are awesome and I love the area and the people! There is one family here called the Familia Lopez-- the dad is the stake patriarch and they have 7 kids! They all live close by and they LOVE LOVE LOVE the missionaries and especially the Hermanas! haha. Every time we go to their house they call us the "angelitas" hehehe. They`re awesome and love to give us food! haha.

This week has been full of mostly just getting to know the area and the people. We had a really successful week and we were able to invite 4 people to be baptized... and they accepted! The Lord is really blessing us and we are working on finding more families!

I am loving the area-- It`s different than my other areas, but I am already loving the people here!

I hope all is well with you guys this week! I will do my list-way next week when I am a little bit more organized and all! I love you lots!!! Have a GREAT WEEK!!!!

Con Amor!!

I get to see you in (less than) a WEEK!

HoLLLLA My family!!

This week seemed to have passed by REALLY fast! And now we´re heading into the last day of the transfer. Crazy town... Time is flying!

Here´s my week for ya!

Monday; For P-day, we were in the stake center playing Ultimate Frisbee and Soccer. We also had a pack of cards so a couple of us played SPEED! It reminded me of the good old camping days and fun family reunions! Haha.
And we had this guy come and cook us TACOS... Ahhh.. They were so good and I miss Mexican food! Here there´s just a lot of pollo, papas, y arroz... Every day! hahaha. Sometimes a little bit of variety is nice! Hahah

Tuesday: We did our zone goals! We have a lot of potential this month! Lots of fun things to look forward to!  That night, we cleaned really late in the night because we had ROOM INSPECTIONS the next day!

Wednesday: In the morning, we had our room inspection, which went well! Hermana Erickson gave us these delicious chocolate chip cookies too...! Ahh. Then, we had interviews with Presidente Erickson! our last ones with him before we get the new mission president (he comes in June!) It was sweet and a little sad! But he gives the best advice and I will miss him as a mission President!
That evening, we had a work visit with the Sister Training Leaders. I went with Hermana Valdez to her area! That was fun! and I learned A LOT!

Thursday: We had a work visit with our District Leader Elder Ushi in the afternoon. It was good and we ate a lot of Chifles (This fried banana chips! haha)

Friday: We had a service project in the morning--sand papering walls of paint so that they could paint again! Hahaha. Then that afternoon, I ATE MY FIRST CHICKEN FOOT!!!! HAhaha. ok... lies... I ate some of the skin off of the chicken foot--- hahaha. I still don´t have the guts to eat the whole chicken foot with the toes and all-... Hahaha. IT was weird though... hahaha.

Saturday: We took our investigator Eduardo to a baptism! He loved it! he was telling all the missionaries there he was going to be baptized on the 14th. I really felt the spirit and I felt like he could feel it to! The importance of baptism and all. IT was a sweet baptism.

Sunday: Was FULL of appointments appointments appointments! We are working a lot with our ward and finding new people!

This week has gone by fast and I can´t wait to see you guys this SUNDAY!!!
This week, I have been studying a lot in D&C 84. There was one part that I really liked, in v. 109-110. IT talks about how like the parts of the body, we need to be united to do what we can and we will function better. I think that´s applicable in so many ways of life. We have to work with our families, with the people we work with, and everyone to make things work. And when we work together, things go better. HAha. Just a little thought.

Also... I learned a new word this week! Madrugada! It means like, the dawn. The time from like 3am-7am. Dawn? hahaa.

I love you guys and I will SEE YOU soon! Hehehe.,

Love love love,
Hermana Kira Andrus

Work work work in Lima Peru

Dear Familia!
Buenos Dias from PerĂș!!! This week was FULL of WORK . Lots of work... Hahaha. But lots of good work, lots of progression, and lots of things to work on!

Monday: For P-day, we cooked brownies (our zone leaders parents sent him some for his birthday) and played cards. Then, we went to the stake center and .... you guessed it! Played Futbol. Hahahaha.

Tuesday: we went and visited this couple we found a while ago- They are struggling because he needs to get divorced from a previous marriage and he´s not doing the things he needs to to get divorced... bleh... Lots of help and motivation for them!

Wednesaday; We did service in the morning for a less active woman in our ward. She sells food to the ladies who work in the hairshops close to her home, so we helped her out with that I learned how to cook Tallarin Rojas (noodles with a red sauce..carrots and tomatoes) and papa la huancaina! Yum! hahaha.
That was a really LONG day with lots of appointment and Lots of WALKING! ahh!

Thursday: At lunch, we had a super trunky lunch.. hahaha. The family we ate with has a daughter who recently got married to a guy from the states. So.. they showed us all the photos!! ahhahaha... so trunky (Trunky is when you think or want or have things that remind you of home) haha

Friday: worked a lot in the morning and then for lunch, we went to this older lady in our ward. She always cooks really healthy, which is awesome, but she cooks us a TON! Seriously.. we had corn, a veggie salad, aji de gallina (Thats the picture I attached) and then jello... So. Much. Food! Hahaha.
That evening, my companion was pretty sick. But I think that it was because of all the food we ate! hahaha.

Saturday: We met a new guy named EDUARDO! He is this sweet, old man who has lots of doubts about the church where he´s attending right now. We taught him and he was awesome, but he LOVED to talk! Hahaha. That day was a little stressful because we were running around trying to find a division for our district leader. Ahhh.. la vida misional! hahaha.

Sunday: was a really good day. Our bishop moved out of our ward about a month ago, and they are working on calling a new bishop. But for now, everyone is in a little bit of a weird transition time. We tlaked to the bishop and are really working on strengthening the ward.
That evening, we visited Eduardo! That was such a good lesson. As we were teaching him about how in these days we have modern prophets, i showed him a picture of Thomas S. Monson. ]He told us that he felt like he knew him before. It was so sweet! and we invited him to be baptized and he accepted! So now, we´ll be preparing him!

This week was full of ups and downs and lots of things to do and places to walk. I cannot believe how fast the time is flying! This is week 5 of this change. Crazy. Also... The WEATHER IS STARTING TO CHANGE!! WOOT WOOT! It´s actually pretty cold here in the morning and evening/night.
I hope you guys are all doing well! I love you and am always praying for you guys! Don´t forget to say your prayers and give thanks!

Xoxoxoxoxoxoxox..
